Lead Acid Batteries

It produces electrical energy from a reversible chemical reaction. A lead acid battery cell consists of two lead plates, positive plate covered with a paste of lead dioxide and negative made of
sponge lead, with an insulating material (separator) in between. The plates are enclosed in a plastic battery case and then submersed in an electrolyte of diluted sulphuric acid.


Figure below shows six 2 volt lead acid cells are connected to form a typical 12 volt lead acid battery.
